CONSTITUTION FOR THE MANKATO EAST
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

ARTICLE 1…..INTRODUCTION

The Mankato East High School Athletic Hall of Fame is a memorial to the outstanding athletes who, through their leadership and athletic achievements, have brought honor to themselves, their school and the community. The Hall of Fame also recognizes coaches and community members who have given substantially of themselves for the betterment of athletics at Mankato East High School.

ARTICLE 11…..PURPOSE

Mankato East has a long and rich tradition of athletic competition and accomplishments. It is only fitting that the school and community remember, recognize and honor the outstanding achievements and contributions of the past.

ARTICLE 111…..CANDIDATES FOR MEMBERSHIP

Candidates for membership in the Mankato East High School Athletic Hall of Fame shall be former Mankato East High School students and coaches, or other individuals who have met the requirements set forth in this Constitution. Candidates must receive a 5/7 majority vote from the selection committee in order to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Candidates are eligible through three categories:

ATHLETIC – A former Mankato East athlete who performed
with excellence and lettered in a varsity sport. Nominees must
be, or must have been, a credit to Mankato East High School
and the community. Inductees may be either living or deceased.
Candidates must be a Mankato East High School graduate and
out of high school for at least eight (8) years.

COACHES – A nominee must be either a former or present coach
who has distinguised himself/herself by demonstrating exceptional
leadership, character, and athletic achievement during his/her
tenure at Mankato East.

AT LARGE – A person who has been a loyal and devoted
supporter of Mankato East High School athletics.

ARTICLE 1V…..AMENDMENT PROCEDURES

This constitution may be amended by a 5/7 majority vote of the
selection committee.


BY-LAWS OF THE MANKATO EAST HIGH SCHOOL
ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME

ARTICLE 1…..SELECTION COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP

The selection committee shall consist of the high school Athletic Director, one coach from a female sport, one coach from a male sport,
and four (4) other individuals who are either residents of the Mankato
East attendance area, alumni, or past/present employees of the Mankato
East. The initial committee will be selected by the Athletic Director.

Non coaching committee members shall serve for as long as they
wish. Coaches may serve as long as they are coaching within the Mankato
East school system.

As committee members resign, new members shall be approved by a
2/3 majority of the remaining committee members. The Athletic Director
shall serve as chair for the first two years, after which an election shall be
held every two years to select a new chair. A secretary will also be elected
to serve a two year term. The chair and secretary may be reelected to their
respective positions.

ARTICLE 11…. VOTING RIGHTS

Each member of the committee shall have one vote. A committee
member may not cast a vote for his/her own induction or for the induction
of an immediate family member.

ARTICLE 111…..COMMITTEES

The following committes shall be formed with the chair making committee assignments:

FUNDRAISING – This committee will solicit funding from within the
community, sports booster clubs and other sources. All monies will be held
in the 2067 student association account at the high school. Any costs for plaques, postage, printing, banquet expenses, etc. that are not obtained via fundraising will be paid for from the 2067 student association account.

INFORMATION COMMITTEE – It shall be the responsibility of this committee to contact all individuals nominated for induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame to request biographical informations that will be used by the committee to determine the inductees for that year. This committee may also be asked to verify information from nominees.

PUBLICITY/CEREMONY COMMITTEE – This committeee of two (2) people shall be responsible for publicizing the Athletic Hall of Fame, organizing the induction ceremony, ordering the plaques, and handling all communication with the inductees.

ARTICLE 1V….NOMINATION

Anyone may nominate an individual to the Mankato East High School Hall of Fame. Nomination forms will be made available via the local newspaper and the high school Athletic Office. All nomination forms will be collected by the high school Athletic Director.

Nominations for any given year shall close on May 15th. The committee shall meet no later that March 30th to vote on the nominees for that year. Entry to the Mankato East Athletic Hall of Fame shall be by a 5/7 majority vote of the selection committee. The selection committee shall be cognizant of gender considerations in the selection process.

Once nominated, an individual’s nomination form will be kept on file and he/she will remain eligible for induction in future years.

ARTICLE V…..INDUCTION

Induction ceremonies for those individuals who receive a 5/7 majority vote of the selection committee will be held in conjunction with Homecoming
ceremonies. Pictures and/or information regarding the inductees will be hung in a prominent place at the senior high school.

The number of inductees shall be limited to a maximum of four (4) each year.

ARTICLE VI……AMENDING THE BY-LAWS

The By-Laws to this Constitution may be amended by a 5/7 vote of the selection committee.
