Project 4 Teens

WHAT IS PROJECT FOR TEENS?

Students holding up signs - confidence respect abstinence resilent

P4T is a volunteer peer-education program involving five local high schools:  Mankato East, Mankato West, Mankato Loyola, Saint Peter, and Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.  Each year, about twenty students from each school are trained as peer leaders so that they can educate younger audiences (5th-8th grade students) about healthy decision-making and respectful relationships.

The goals of Project for Teens include:

  • Promote healthy/responsible decision-making among younger age peers
  • Teach communication skills (including negotiation and refusal skills) that younger students can apply in “risky” situations
  • Provide accurate information about risks associated with teen sexual activity, supporting the “norm” that it is OK to say “no” to early sexual involvement

Students are required to apply/reapply to P4T each year.  If you are interested in applying to P4T for the 2019-2020 school year, please complete the online application by Friday, September 20 at 8:00 pm.
