The value of athletics in schools is significant and cannot be overlooked. It has a profound impact on individuals, the school as a whole, as well as the community. Athletics is powerful and transcendent. It can bridge gaps, bring people with relatively nothing in common together, and gives many participants unbelievable, life-altering opportunities. Perseverance, a strong work ethic, dedication, resiliency, dealing with adversity – attributes truly needed for achievement and valued by employers – are all characteristics honed and developed by participation in sports.
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) is inviting feedback from the community on revisions to the school district’s strategic roadmap. When approved by the School Board on May 6, the roadmap will guide the system’s future-focused education initiatives.
