Welcome to Mankato East High School. My name is Akram Osman and I am extremely proud to serve as the principal of Mankato East High School. East is my alma mater and I’m honored to have the opportunity to return home. The 2023-24 school year will be my first year at East. I have previously served as the principal of Dakota Meadows Middle School in Mankato and Bloomington Kennedy High School. I have also served as an associate principal at Eden Prairie High School, and as a dean of students and associate principal in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Public Schools. I started my educational career as a cultural liaison and a special education teacher at Rosa Parks Elementary here in Mankato Area Public Schools. Another change you will notice this upcoming school year is that we will have a new assistant principal and dean of students. Will Remmert is the new assistant principal and Brittany Galetka will serve as the dean of students.
As an administrative team, our goal is to partner with our students, staff, and families to ensure the best possible school experience for everyone. Our school culture will be centered on the unique perspectives and voices of our high school scholars. We are committed to building strong relationships that value each individual for who they are and provide a structured learning environment in order for our scholars to reach their full potential. We will strive to provide our students with a high quality, safe and nurturing education that extends beyond the classroom and contributes to their achievement, persistence, and life-long success.

Greetings Mankato East Family,
My name is Brittany Galetka and I am honored to serve our school as the dean of students. Over the past three years I served as a middle school and high school principal, and prior to that, I was an elementary school teacher and instructional coach. My passions in education include all things teaching and learning, advocating for student needs, and making sure others feel respected and heard.
I live in St. Peter with my family. My husband, our two sons, and our springer spaniel, enjoy camping, taking the boat out, and spending time at the hockey rink. My hobbies include cooking for my family, gardening, and reading/ listening to a great book!

I am honored and excited to join Mankato East High School as an assistant principal this year. For the past 9 years, I served as an administrator at Mankato West, Central and Eagle Lake Elementary. I love being part of Mankato Area Public Schools and look forward to working with the incredible staff, awesome students, and supportive families that make Mankato East such a special place.
I grew up in western Minnesota and attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where I received my teaching degree, Master's degree in Education, and Specialist degree. I began my teaching career in NRHEG where I taught social studies for seven years before moving to ISD77 where I taught Geography at East Junior High before moving into administration.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and watching sports. My wife's name is Kate and we have two children Rylie and Jack who graduated from Mankato East in 2025. We are highly invested in the great community of Mankato Area Public Schools and are committed to the excellence of the East Side Mankato Schools.
