Welcome to Mankato East High School. My name is Akram Osman and I am extremely proud to serve as the principal of Mankato East High School. East is my alma mater and I’m honored to have the opportunity to return home. The 2023-24 school year will be my first year at East. I have previously served as the principal of Dakota Meadows Middle School in Mankato and Bloomington Kennedy High School. I have also served as an associate principal at Eden Prairie High School, and as a dean of students and associate principal in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Public Schools. I started my educational career as a cultural liaison and a special education teacher at Rosa Parks Elementary here in Mankato Area Public Schools. Another change you will notice this upcoming school year is that we will have a new assistant principal and dean of students. Will Remmert is the new assistant principal and Brittany Galetka will serve as the dean of students.

As an administrative team, our goal is to partner with our students, staff, and families to ensure the best possible school experience for everyone. Our school culture will be centered on the unique perspectives and voices of our high school scholars. We are committed to building strong relationships that value each individual for who they are and provide a structured learning environment in order for our scholars to reach their full potential. We will strive to provide our students with a high quality, safe and nurturing education that extends beyond the classroom and contributes to their achievement, persistence, and life-long success.

Hello Cougar Family, I am thrilled to return to Mankato East as the assistant principal, a role I served in from 2005-2007; since that time I was the principal at Washington and Jefferson Elementarys with MAPS, as well as an elementary principal with New Prague Area Schools for eight years. The past two years I worked with schools across the country to implement Professional Learning Communities and Response to Intervention systems and structures to ensure high levels of learning for all.
